What I would like to offer as a collaborator…

My research focuses broadly on nutrition and physical activity as they relate to chronic disease prevention and public health. A key goal is to elucidate factors associated with successful implementation dissemination and maintenance of evidence-based community programs. I use a combination of theory-grounded qualitative and quantitative methods to understand how individual social organizational and policy factors influence health program adoption implementation and participant health behaviors and outcomes in underserved populations (e.g. low income) and settings (e.g. rural areas). Those findings are used to inform culturally and contextually appropriate community-based interventions implementation and dissemination efforts.

What I am looking for from a collaborator…

I am a community health researcher focused on improving health outcomes for underserved populations. I have facilitated the training of nearly 5,000 rural community health educators over the past 15 years as well as related research with those leaders and participants using a social ecological framework to explore individual- and community-level factors related to program implementation as well as behavior change and maintenance. I have long-standing partnerships with cooperative extension educators throughout the U.S. and they are key partners in both my research and dissemination/outreach endeavors. I look forward to collaborations and networking through my membership in the Center.
