What I would like to offer as a collaborator…

My research interests are public health and the intersections of policy and equity.

What I am looking for from a collaborator…

My interest in community engagement is what had sparked my interest in public health. Having volunteered in many communities and organizations ranging from medical to political, I was able to get a sense of what it meant to serve a community. Through many of my volunteering efforts, I was able to connect with people, learn new things, as well as experience a new culture or practice and it was something that soon enough, I continuously sought after in my other endeavors. My biggest takeaway from being heavily involved in volunteer work was that there is a plethora of concerns that affect populations on multiple levels whether it is personal or community. So, when it came to deciding what kind of career trajectory I wanted to pursue, I knew public health would be the right one because the field of public health seeks to address such concerns that affect populations at the community or even individual level. My biggest motivator for working in the field of the public is getting to understand the “What?” “How’s?”, and most importantly the “Whys?”. As an inquisitive person, I get much joy in figuring out issues and coming up with solutions, and most importantly understanding and gaining insight on the issues I seek to address, which is why I enjoy being in public health.
