What I would like to offer as a collaborator…

I hope to one day practice as a global physician leader who will provide underserved populations in the United States and around the world with improved access to medical care. Participating in health disparities work through the Cornell Center for Health Equity will help build the skills, mentorship and network I will need to be able to lead work addressing the inequities in healthcare myself.

What I am looking for from a collaborator…

I have spent the last 5 years working toward the goal of one day being a global physician leader. I first began this journey as an undergraduate student studying the Chikungunya virus, which caused an outbreak that ravaged many developing countries in the Caribbean and Latin America throughout 2014. In 2016, I was awarded a Princeton Project 55 fellowship, which is given to graduating students who are committed to civic engagement and effective social change. Through this fellowship, I was able to work at Aeras, a non-profit biotechnology organization devoted to the development of a new, effective tuberculosis vaccine. Upon starting medical school, I immediately became involved in student groups such as Student National Medical Association (SNMA) and Health Profession Recruitment/Exposure Program (HPREP) that are centered around the recruitment and enrichment of underrepresented ethnic minority students into medicine. In 2019, I spent the summer conducting research in Tanzania, assessing presence of left ventricular hypertrophy in HIV-infected and uninfected Tanzanians measured by electrocardiogram.

As a member of the center I hope to further expand my knowledge, research skills and network to be able to one day as a physician work to address inequities in healthcare.
