Dr. Susana Morales appointed Director of Diversity Center of Excellence

Dr. Susana Morales, who was appointed Director of the Diversity Center of Excellence in 2018, has long championed educational initiatives that have furthered the careers of underrepresented minorities in the field of medicine.

The Weill Cornell Medicine Diversity Center of Excellence, which operates under the auspices of the Cornell Center for Health Equity,  is funded by a $2.7 million grant over four years from the Health Resources Services Administration Centers of Excellence (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services).

“Our population is becoming more diverse, but our healthcare professional population hasn’t kept up,” explains Dr. Morales. “Here at Weill Cornell Medicine, we are committed to increasing diversity. This grant in support of the Diversity Center of Excellence is exciting not only because there’s potential to do a lot of good, but it also allows us to be a part of the institution’s larger diversity efforts.”
