First day of Women’s Health Week – I organized a panel on medical gaslighting and how women’s symptoms are dismissed in healthcare. Title: “She said, they won’t listen. Bias in women’s healthcare.” The panels are:
- Victoria Leigh Brown, PhD – first author of paper “Believing women: a qualitative exploration of provider disbelief and pain dismissal among women with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome from the MAPP research network“
- Arianne Malekzadeh, MA, doctoral candidate at George Washington University, first author on paper “‘Am I Truly Invisible?’: Black Women’s Experiences of and Coping With Intersectional Invisibility in Uterine Fibroid Treatment“

The vision of the Cornell Center for Health Equity is to nurture durable academic-community partnerships to inform our research agenda, integrate community perspectives into our research, and develop an infrastructure to disseminate and implement the results of our work with the overarching goal of achieving health equity locally, regionally, and nationally.
