What I would like to offer as a collaborator…
In my position at the NYS IPM Program we provide resources, recommendations, and training for safe and effective pest control solutions using integrated pest management (IPM). Pesticides and pests like cockroaches and rodents can cause and exacerbate asthma symptoms. Pest infestations, particularly bed bugs, can cause health service providers to deny care and/or home visits, or the stigma of having a bed bug infestation may even prevent some people from engaging with healthcare providers. Furthermore, pests can cause people to over-apply pesticides, subjecting them to over-exposure to the chemicals in pesticides. If clients/patients/caregiver/service providers need solutions for pest infestations or advice on how to avoid pest infestations I can assist in finding the right solution to provide clients and caregivers with effective and safe control, and peace of mind.
What I am looking for from a collaborator…
I’m looking to expand our outreach to under-served audiences suffering from asthma or chronic bed bug infestations. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn how integrated pest management training/education, pest control services, and policies impacts asthma rates and hospitalizations. I am especially interested in collaborating with research and outreach in affordable housing for elderly and disabled residents.
