Health Equity/Research Interest

I am a public health practitioner, action researcher, and educator. My work locally, nationally, and internationally has centered on assuring and improving public health via an equity lens, investing in understanding assets and opportunities, and capacitating communities to improve access to primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention services. Often, this includes being willing to (collectively) challenge the status quo. My research interests include documenting processes and methods used, investigating facilitators and barriers to action, and cycling that back to inform program or project adaptations to improve outcomes and impacts.

Expertise/Goals

I am a strong public health generalist with experience in local, state, national, and international public health, from both a governmental and NGO/CBO standpoint. I am a good convener, listener, and facilitator, and help groups articulate both big-picture goals and concrete measurable steps to achievement. My current goals are to help communities develop capacities similar to those expected in the [government] public health workforce, bringing the power of upstream interventions–and advocacy and action for equity and justice–to those with the strongest context knowledge and vision for success.
