Health Equity/Research Interest
Prior to enrolling as a medical student at Weill Cornell, I obtained my Ph.D. and completed a year-long post-doc in the fields of skeletal and cardiac muscle physiology. Although my training to date has been in basic and translational research, I have always maintained an interest in societal equity/disparity in general. I am still early in my medical training but health equity in particular has been brought to the forefront of many of my patient interactions. This has spurred a commitment to gaining exposure to health equity research and eventually adding it to my research portfolio as part of my long-term goals as a physician scientist.
Expertise/Goals
My hope is that I can marry my basic/translational research background with an exposure to larger scale epidemiological research to identify meaningful opportunities to improve health equity. Furthermore, I am excited by the prospect of identifying and contributing to community outreach opportunities.
