Health Equity/Research Interest
Jamila Michener studies poverty racial inequality and public policy with an emphasis on the politics of Medicaid. She is author of a book entitled: Fragmented Democracy: Medicaid Federalism and Unequal Politics (Cambridge University Press). Much of her work explores the role of public policy in developing (or undermining) the collective political capacity necessary to achieve health equity.
Expertise/Goals
My expertise connects the center to social scientists who focuses on public policy. My presence can help build the bridge between the hard/medical sciences and the social sciences. I anticipate benefitting from the network of scholars involved with the center. I am also open to collaborations and other activities.
