Health Equity/Research Interest

My research focuses on developing social psychological and communication-based interventions to improve engagement in advance care planning (ACP) and end-of-life care and care among minority cancer patients including African American and Latino cancer patients. As a recent recipient of a K07 award I plan to build my research in intervention development to improve engagement in ACP and end-of-life communication and care outcomes among minority advanced cancer patients. As such I am highly interested in joining the Center for Health Equity to strengthen my research in this area with my fellow colleagues and community partners who are critical to strengthening this work.

Expertise/Goals

I am Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine and a formally trained social/experimental psychologist. I have expertise in patient-provider communication and health disparities research study design and qualitative and quantitative methodologies and analytic approaches. My work has been recognized through funding and career awards from the NIH NCI American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and Palliative Care Research Cooperative (PCRC). I contribute a strong health disparities research background that could help build out the research infrastructure within the Center. My primary goal is to build my own network to collaborate with other researchers and community partners.
