CCHEq members receive grant funding for community-engaged project

Two members of the Cornell Center for Health Equity have been awarded grant funding to address social determinants of health in Tompkins County.

The Cornell Master of Public Health Program has been awarded an Engaged Opportunity Grant from the Office of Engagement Initiatives at Cornell to initiate a new community-engaged project entitled, “Addressing Social Determinants of Health Through Policy & Partnerships.” Cornell Center for Health Equity members, Lara Parrilla and Dr. Jamila Michener, will lead this project this summer with a team of staff from Cayuga Health Partners, two Cornell Master of Public Health students, and 38 members of the Cornell Center for Health Equity Undergraduate Student Chapter. Via remote communication, the project team will work with one or more primary care practices and multiple community based organizations to meaningfully support their goals to address social determinants of health among Tompkins County residents.
