This is an important step forward. But such disentanglement requires a careful reexamination of cultural and professional memory: the medical literature. Health care professionals must reexamine the use of race/ethnicity in clinical guidelines, where those guidelines have been informed by problematically outdated and fundamentally flawed race/ethnicity definitions.
