What I would like to offer as a collaborator…

I am interested primarily in using implicit associations testing (IAT) to elicit unconscious biases from faculty, residents and staff members. Once these data are gathered an intervention may be performed (e.g. diversity training) and then implicit attitudes tracked over time. I plan to implement some of these ideas over the course of the next several years. I am also interested in using big data to examine disparities in labor and delivery outcomes amongst minority women.

What I am looking for from a collaborator…

I have been interested in and educating myself on implicit biases since I was an undergraduate student studying these topics in a Psychology laboratory at Harvard College. Since becoming a faculty member I have noticed that my department does not yet have someone dedicated to recruitment and retention of URM faculty. My participation in the Mentoring Cascade has given me access to a large network of academicians from other departments who can help me to implement initiatives. I hope to continue mentoring medical students and residents and to recruit more diverse faculty to my department during the next phase of my career.
