Health Equity/Research Interest

My research interest focuses on programs and initiatives that prepare and allow underrepresented minorities to be more successful on their paths towards becoming a physician. I want to be a part of the growing necessity to strengthen the physician workforce through the equity and diversity of future physicians.

Expertise/Goals

During my undergraduate academic journey, I focused on tutoring other students. I guided students in completing, comprehending, and mastering principles of organic chemistry problem sets. I also helped students review key concepts to build confidence and solidify information for class exams. As a tutor, I was able to learn from the students that I taught. Each style of learning is different, and I had to adjust the way I teach depending on the individual student. One method that I found very useful for my students was allowing them to explain how they approach problems. This further helped them not only learn but also identify knowledge gaps. My background in tutoring has strengthened my ability to convey information to people in a way that they will best understand.
