Health Equity/Research Interest

As a pre-medical student, I have had the opportunity to receive mentorship and guidance from a variety of medical professionals through shadowing and volunteering experiences. I’ve come to realize that the quality of care and nature of interactions between patients and medical personnel can vary across facilities, often as a result of their respective settings/resources and patient backgrounds. I am curious about the differences in the quality of patient care as a result of resource availability, location, medical history, race, and much more. My research interests span the fields of sociology, economics, public health, and health equity. I’m also passionate about nutritional education & access and conducting community-engaged & mixed methods research.

Expertise/Goals

My research interests and volunteer experiences at the Cayuga Medical Center and Stony Brook University Hospital have inspired me to pursue an MPH and MD. As a CCHEq Student Member, I look forward to engaging in enriching and exciting conversations with both professionals that have a deep knowledge of health equity, as well as students interested in interdisciplinary research and creating change. I’m hoping to engage in research and educational programming through the CCHEq, and carry these experiences into my future endeavors and career.
