Health Equity/Research Interest

Dr. Schackman is the Saul P. Steinberg Distinguished Professor of Healthcare Policy & Research at Weill Cornell Medicine. He conducts research relating to economic evaluations of the comparative effectiveness of health interventions alongside clinical trials and cohort studies cost-effectiveness and comparative effectiveness simulation modeling and implementation science studies-particularly relating to treatment of infectious diseases and substance use disorders. He is the Director of CHERISH-The Center for Health Economics of Treatment Interventions for Substance Use Disorder HCV HIV- a multi-institutional Center of Excellence funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (P30DA040500).

Expertise/Goals

My experience conducting health economic and outcomes evaluations for stigmatized conditions including substance use disorders HIV and HCV in vulnerable populations will add to the Center’s breadth of research methods expertise. As a member I look forward to providing my expertise and mentorship to Center investigators and to increase networking opportunities between Center members and the multi-institutional NIDA-funded research center that I lead.
