Health Equity/Research Interest
My area of research focus is disparities that affect people with severe mental illness. I am currently involved in research that aims to better understand racial disparities in antipsychotic prescribing practices. My clinical focus is in providing care for people with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and helping those with severe mental illness advocate for their recovery.
Expertise/Goals
My experience thus far has been largely clinical, and I have gained expertise in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with psychotic disorders. I have also completed a fellowship in public psychiatry, which has helped me to understand the treatment of individuals in the public sector as well as many of the political and institutional factors that contribute to health care disparities. I have recently moved into a more academic and research-oriented focus, and I hope that my membership in the Center will help me find collaborators and mentors for my work in health care disparities.
