Health Equity/Research Interest

I am interested in disparities in chronic respiratory disease outcomes, and am currently focusing on race and sex based disparities in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. My research interests are to conduct observational studies to discover targets for intervention in the patient population with COPD that drive differences in outcomes based on race, gender and socioeconomic status. I would subsequently like to develop and evaluate interventions based on the identified targets to address disparities and deliver high quality care to patients with respiratory disease. I am also more broadly interested in community engagement in respiratory health.

Expertise/Goals

My educational background and experience provide a unique lens to approach healthcare disparities research. During my MD/MBA training, I focused on healthcare systems design innovations to deliver high quality care to vulnerable populations. In addition, I was involved in the development of a dedicated curriculum incorporated healthcare disparities education at the University of Michigan Medical School. Now, I am a T32 fellow and supplementing my prior educational background with rigorous research training. I hope to collaborate with other individuals in the Center with similar interests in the areas of research and patient care. I would also really value the opportunity to engage with community partners.
