Health Equity/Research Interest

I am a pre-med student studying in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations hoping to get involved in research that focuses on health equity. I am working towards an inequality studies minor as well and looking for a way to bridge the gap between my ILR background in policy and social justice and medicine. I was referred by Dr. Madeline Sterling whose research on cardiovascular disease and social determinants of health outcomes struck me as particularly interesting since it combines social science and inequality studies with healthcare and medicine.

Expertise/Goals

The combination of my ILR education and my previous clinical experiences (e.g. shadowing at NYU Perelman Emergency Department last summer) have shaped my view of healthcare and medicine while considering the inequality in the healthcare system. I hope that I can gain more insight into the issues of health equity by joining the Center and that I can benefit from mentorship opportunities as well as opportunities to attend events on campus and learn more about health equity.
