Health Equity/Research Interest

Dr. Cassano is a nutritional epidemiologist studying the interaction of nutrition with the genome in order to identify strategies to prevent chronic disease. In addition to her discovery-based research program, Dr. Cassano directs The WHO/Cochrane/Cornell Summer Institute for Systematic Reviews in Nutrition for Global Policy Making. The Institute teaches review methods including considerations of equity in the production of reviews that are used for guidelines. Dr. Cassano also directs the Cornell Cochrane Center in Nutrition, an affiliate of the Cochrane US Network, which includes work to translate knowledge about the role of nutrition in disease prevention and management to broad audiences.

Expertise/Goals

I hope to network with Center members given my various roles and to find ways to work together to advance goals to reduce health disparities, particularly in relation to the role of nutrition in health inequities. I am interested in representing not only my own professional interests, but the interests of various groups that I represent.
