Health Equity/Research Interest
Health equity is a key concept to addressing health disparities and understanding the impact/outcomes of social determinants of health. I have spent the last 15 years across the HIV prevention, substance use, youth development, and health policy areas of public health to work on these issues. My interest in membership of this center is to explore collaborations (campus county connections) between Cornell Cooperative Extension and this center. Additionally I would like to explore how membership will allow me to build on my existing network of professionals both in the field and the academic setting to further initiatives and activities related to health equity and social justice.
Expertise/Goals
I have a broad range of experience both in terms of settings (rural, suburban, urban, racial/ethnic diversity and LGBTQIA+ populations which allows me to bring many perspectives to complex issues related to health equity. I hope to explore potential collaborations between the Cornell Cooperative Extension system and the Cornell Center for Health Equity. Also I am interested in building on my existing network of individuals with expertise of and passion for health equity, social justice as well as diversity, equity and inclusion.
