Health Equity/Research Interest

I am fascinated with the impact of nutrition education and access on youth development particularly in urban environments. I am interested in facilitating and implementing youth nutrition education programs. I believe community health engagement is a part of preventative health care.

Expertise/Goals

This past summer I worked at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York City teaching nutrition to young children in Queens and Brooklyn and have continued to be involved with CCE on campus in Ithaca. I am passionate about public health nutrition and youth development. I would love to combine these passions with my interests in medicine and research with work going on at Weill and the new Health Equity Center. I was referred to become a student member by Dr. Madeline Sterling. I also hope to connect my fellow undergraduate students involved with healthcare community engagement and coursework on campus with community members and health professionals in NYC. This partnership is particularly important to me as I am an Engaged Ambassador for Engaged Cornell on campus with a mission to provide engagement opportunities for students. Additionally I hope to gain mentorship as I am a pre-medical student studying Biology and Society. I am in my third year at Cornell and am applying to medical schools this year. I would appreciate the mentorship and advice from Weill faculty and staff during this time.
